The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) is an organization which is UK based and manages an independent examination board imparting vocational education and qualification in health, safety and environmental practice and management. There are different types of examination held by NEBOSH at frequent intervals. Candidates who pass both the theory and practical papers are awarded the certification of NEBOSH. Both Certificate and Diploma courses are available in NEBOSH. Under NEBOSH Certification there are several qualifications like Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Candidates who hold the below mentioned qualifications are entitled to the Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). These qualifications also meet the academic requirements for Technical Membership (Tech IOSH) of IOSH.
Candidates often ask as to how much time it would take to complete the course. This will depend on which course provider and what qualification you choose to study. Generally speaking a Certificate courses can take from two weeks to three months. Diploma courses can take anything between nine and thirty six months to complete, depending on the timetable of the course providers and the pace at which you wish to proceed in your studies. It is difficult for the candidates to decide which course would be the most suitable for him. NEBOSH accredit a number of course providers offering a course of study leading to each of NEBOSH qualifications. All course providers meet minimum requirements in order to achieve and maintain accreditation with NEBOSH. Recommendations cannot be made nor can the examination pass rates be disclosed to individual course providers. Teaching formats differ with different course providers, the amount of support they provide, venue type and location all differs and hence the cost too. We recommend that you contact a number of providers to discuss their services so you can make a choice of which suits you best. After the candidate sits for the exam he has to await the exam results. For written examinations that the applicant has appeared, the date by which the candidate should receive a written result notification is mentioned on his examination entry confirmation sheet. Within two weeks he has to take up the Certificate-level practical assessments of a written examination to include the marks of the practical test in the marks of the written examination. All results should be received within ten weeks from the date of the examination or assignment submission. To maintain confidentiality, NEBOSH does not declare the results over the telephone under any circumstances.
